SINOPSIS
Iris is the ugliest fairy godmother ever. Most of the members
of the magical kingdom to which she belongs are afraid of her because of her
warts, spots and big nose. She is very hard working and takes seriously her job
protecting children from nightmares or helping them to overcome their fears or
problems. However, everybody is not focused on her good qualities but on her
physical appearance. Iris is normally able to forget the others’ contempt with
the help of her best friends. However, there are other times in which she feels
miserable.
This situation will change when all fairies are
kidnapped and they need Iris’s help to survive. Then, they realise how mean
they have been to her and how deceptive appearances can be and they learn to be
considerate and to appreciate everyone’s innerself from the very first beginning.
From that moment onwards, whenever a child is born ugly, Iris is godmother to
all of them.
CHARACTERS OBJECTIVES
Iris (main character): she is
sympathetic, considerate and thoughtful. She is almost always looking on the
bright side of life and focuses on the others’ best qualities. She has got a
soft voice. Her physical appearance is very unattractive.
Ivy: She is beautiful, nice and
quite naughty. Before, she was also afraid of Iris, but afterwards she realised
she was not right about appearances. She is the narrator of the story and the
one who is always defending her.
Miss Margaret: She is very
old, wise and elegant. She used to think that beauty is the most valuable
characteristic for a fairy godmother. She constitutes the most experienced
fairy godmother. She does not want Iris to continue being a fairy godmother
because of her physique.
Amy: She is smart, attractive
and completely loyal to Miss Margaret. She is not able to think by herself, she
only seems to follow Miss Margaret’s opinions or orders.
Barbara: She is the most
evil witch ever. She is intelligent and pretty. She is the witches’ leader. Her
unique objective is the children’s unhappiness. She hates fairies above everything.
Cruela: She is Barbara’s lap-dog.
She is rude and does everything that Barbara orders. She is easily confused.
SCENES
Scene 1
Music and genre: Enya- Fairytail.
The scene is set in the landscape of the magical kingdom. All different fantastic creatures (gnomes, fairies, dragons, etc.) will run into Iris and show their contempt towards her. There is no dialogue because we are going to use this introduction part of the story to make the audience identify with Iris’ unfair rejection.
Scene 2
The scene is first set in the fairies godmother’s
school and then, in one child’s house. Iris finally becomes a fairy godmother
and starts working to help children. She has to face some problem when trying
to speak to children about their worries or fears because of her physical
appearance. Some kids shout at her, but she calms them down with her soft and
peaceful voice. The people’s rejection continues. Iris sometimes discuss about
most relevant fairies’ qualities with Miss Margaret. Miss Margaret and Amy try
to fire her and criticise her whenever they can and in front of the rest of the
fairies.
Scene 3
Music and genre: Lord of the Rings - Gandalf has fallen
The scene is set in Iris’s house. Iris feels miserable because of the constant telling-off of Miss Margaret and her affirmation that she cannot be a fairy godmother because of her lack of beauty. She starts to underestimate her valuable job.
Ivy tries to make Iris feel better by giving her true pieces of advice about how ephemeral the physique is and what really matter is her capacity to deal with children’s troubles and her good intentions.
Scene 4
Music and genre: Gladiator Soundtrack - The Battle.
The scene is set in the desert fairy’s school, everything is a mess and then, in the witches’ hiding place (a dark cave). When Iris is back from a mission, she discovers that all her fellows have been kidnapped by the vile Barbara witch and her followers. Barbara casts a spell on the magical Kingdom. There are some funny dialogues between Barbara and her thick follower, Cruela.
Iris disguised herself by enchanting her clothes and makes them seem a witch’s clothing. Nobody suspects that she is in fact a good fairy godmother and she manages to deceive Barbara and her evil followers. She organises a big festival to distract them and liberate her fellows. She reaches her objective.
Once the fairies are free, they are very grateful and apologise to her for their unfair and superficial behaviour. Iris forgives everybody and gives them a second chance.
Scene 5
Music and genre: The Return of the King (The
Lord of the Rings soundtrack).
All the fantastic creatures say sorry to Iris and they
start appreciating her valuable task along the past time. Ivy tells the moral
of the story (“Nobody consider ugliness again as a lack of prestige or
misfortune. Whenever a child is born ugly, it reminded everybody how deceptive
appearances could be and they learnt to be considerate and to appreciate
everyone’s inner. Furthermore, Iris was godmother to them, delighted, of
course”). Without dialogues, the new born and Iris are shown.
